Amrit Singh is a Punjabi Sikh multidisciplinary artist specializing in ceramics. Alongside her studio practice, Amrit serves as a death doula and hospice nurse, accompanying individuals and families at the end of life.

Bearing witness to the threshold between life and death on a daily basis has shaped how Amrit creates and lives. The roles she embodies as a daughter, sister, massi, friend, and partner are carried with deep gratitude for their teachings towards connection.

Similarly, Amrit's ceramics are a testament to the rapport she builds with each piece as she honors their fragility, resiliency, and capacity to hold memory. The union of her two worlds invites us to reflect on our own impermanence and the sacred cycles of dissolution and return.

For this exhibition, Amrit wanted to create a series dedicated to a beloved horse she was told stories about when she was a child. Nila, translating to blue, was Guru Gobind Singh's companion. Nila was more than a horse to Sikhs, but rather a symbol of sovereignty and courage. These pieces are an exploration of childlike wonder merging with what it means to be divinely protected through adversity.
